Write A Resume – Helpful Hints To Make It Easier

It is easy to create a resume if you go through each step one by one. These are some tips that I would like to share. You can also use this process to make resume writing more fun and productive.

Select Your Job Target

Remember that your resume must be written with one job in mind when writing it. Your resume and mind should be centered on the job you want.

Assess your Qualifications

On a piece of paper, trace the requirements for the job on the left. Write down, for example, customer service skills if the job description calls for them.

Next, go through each of your job requirements. Write down the job requirements directly to your right. Write down the number of years or months you have experience after each yes.

It is now time to self-assess. What would other people rate your skill level in this area? Are you a beginner, intermediate or expert in this area?

This self-assessment tool will help you. You are likely to be a beginner if you seek information and assistance often. Your level of proficiency is intermediate if you help others and teach them how to do the skill. If you are the “go-to” person in a particular skill area, it is safe for you to consider yourself an expert.

For each skill you have written yes to, write down the skill level.

Catering to the Employer’s needs

You should now realize that you have a sheet containing all your strengths and weaknesses as they relate to the job you are applying for.

Write your resume starting with your objective statement. Make sure to highlight your strengths.

If you are looking for a customer service job, for example, and have years of customer service experience, you might write the following objective statement: I want to get a job as a customer service representative where I can apply my years of customer service experience to provide outstanding customer support.
